ZHANG Chi

Born in 1984 in Xi’An, China, Zhang Chi is an artist and architect whose artistic activity transcends the boundaries between different techniques and disciplines. His career, marked by enriching academic experiences, reflects a constant commitment to artistic creation, exploring various mediums and supports.

 

Zhang Chi began his academic journey by obtaining a bachelor's degree in architecture from Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology in China (2002-2007). He then expanded his horizons with a State Diploma of Architect (ADE) and a Master's degree from the National School of Architecture of Clermont-Ferrand (2007-2009), before specializing in earth architecture with a DSA at CRATerre, National School of Architecture of Grenoble (2012-2014).

 

Zhang Chi gained solid experience in the field of architecture, collaborating with renowned agencies in China and abroad. As an associate of the ON EARTH architecture agency in Xi’An (2015-2016), he also worked for the FABRE/SPELLER agency in Paris and Clermont-Ferrand (2010-2011). His internships include collaborations with the Institute of Architecture and Design in Beijing (BIAD) and the BRUHAT & BOUCHAUDY agency in Clermont-Ferrand.

 

Drawing on his knowledge and experience, Zhang Chi shares his expertise as a lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture and later at the Faculty of Art at the University of Architecture and Technology in Xi'an, China, since 2011.

 

 

 

Artistic Exhibitions:

 

Zhang Chi's artistic activity stands out for its diversity, combining different techniques and disciplines. He explores watercolors, acrylic, oil, photography, and works on various supports such as paper, plexiglass, linen canvas, silk, walls and many others. Among his notable solo exhibitions are "Bleu" and "Côte d’Azur" in Clermont-Ferrand, France (2022), and "ZHANG Chi" in Taiyuan, China (2021). He has also exhibited at events such as the International Autumn Salon in Tokyo (2014) and the 3rd Festival of Art and Culture in the Shannxi province in Xi'an (2017).

 

Awards:

 

His project "La Maison Commune Du Village Mendeng" won the "Second Prize for Excellent Rural Project" awarded by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People's Republic of China (MOHURD) in 2015. In 2007, Zhang Chi was selected as one of the four finalists in the photography competition organized by the Embassy of France in China and the French Cultural Center in Beijing.
